Open the road to traffic when the fog seal has sufficiently cured.
If required, a test strip should be placed in conditions similar to those that are expected to occur during the project.
Application Guidelines
TEST STRIP: If required, a test strip should be placed in conditions similar to those that are expected to occur during the project.
FOG: In extreme hot, dry conditions, the surface should be "fogged" by spraying water to prevent premature break of the emulsion. The rate of fog spray application is adjusted with the temperature, surface texture, humidity, and dryness of the surface. Care should be taken to not create water pooling which could affect emulsion breaking and curing time.
APPLICATION RATES & COVERAGE: The fog seal needs to have a consistent appearance to meet the specified application rate.
HANDWORK: Areas which cannot be accessed by the distributor truck will need to be sealed using hand spray. This will provide complete and uniform coverage. (If necessary, the area to be hand worked should be lightly dampened prior to sealing.) As much as possible, handwork should exhibit the same finish as that applied by the distributor truck.
Emulsion applied by a pressure distributor shall be applied at a uniform rate, without splattering or drilling from the spray bar, by using low pressure. Nozzle angle and spray bar height must be adjusted to insure correct spray pattern.
