Equipment can range in size from a single unit to a multi-unit train.
Single Unit CIR Train
SINGLE UNIT TRAIN:
- Cutting head removes pavement to desired depth and cross-slope
- Cutting head sizes the RAP
- Recycling agent and additives are blended with the RAP in cutting head chamber
- Recycling agent is added volumetrically based on width and depth of cut and forward speed of unit
Two unit CIR Train
TWO UNIT TRAINS:
- Consist of a large full lane width cold planer and a mix paver
- RAP removal and sizing is performed by the cold planer
- Recycling agents and additives are blended in the pugmill of the mix paver
- Recycling agent is added based on the weight of the RAP being processed
Multi Unit Train
MULTI UNIT TRAINS:
- Consist of a large full lane width cold planer
- A separate crushing unit and screening deck that controls the maximum size of RAP
- A separate pugmill that mixes all materials (may be mounted on the same unit as the crusher & screening deck)
- Recycling agent is added based on the weight of the RAP being processed
